As part of the Oklahoma Quality Beef Network (OQBN), the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES) is offering a series of Spring Calf Health Clinics across Oklahoma in May. These clinics provide beef farmers and ranchers an opportunity to learn how to add value to their herd through the Oklahoma Quality Beef Network, information on how to improve their vaccine program and an opportunity for Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification. Read moreTwenty-three 4-H’ers from Seminole County participated this past weekend in a Tri-County 4-H Retreat at Texoma Christian Camp near Madill. The camp involved 4-H’ers from Seminole, Hughes and Pontotoc who were seventh through twelfth graders. They had as their theme “Sharing is Caring,” which was carried out in their “getting to know you” session, discussion group, recreation filed trips and devotional and vesper services. Attending were: Terry and Teresa Earnest, Butner; Drusilla Miller, Nobletown; Diane Morton, Wewoka; Bobby Wieck, New Lima; Linda Selfridge, Konawa; Dan Stone, Faye Stone, Stanley Stone, Glenita Stone, Brad Mallory, Karrie Baker, Larry Baker and Connie Baker, Strother; Terry Biggs, Barbara Coon, Gregg Mynhier, Jeff Waters, Curtis Nail, Jerry East, Jeff Harris, Chucky Ritchie, Terry Ballard, Sasakwa. They were supervised at the retreat by Mr. and Mrs. Randall Streetman of Sasakwa, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Baker Jr. of Strother, and Dan F. Morton, 4-H Extension Agent. Mr. and Mrs. Streetman assisted with the Friday evening recreation and songfest session “Getting to Know You,” and other recreation activities throughout the retreat. The group was divided into five tribes and Terry Earnest and Bobbie Wieck were elected chiefs and their tribes were responsible for K.P. Duty and other retreat games, programs, and activities. Retreat participants returned home late Sunday afternoon.
