With only 103 voters participating, 79 (76.70 percent) approved a proposition to levy a city-wide excise tax (sales tax), in addition to all other city, county, and state taxes, of one and one-quarter (1.25 percent) with the proceeds to be used to fund capital expenditures, including but not limited to water and wastewater system improvements. Only 24 voters (23.30 percent) were against the proposal. This new tax will take effect on January 1, 2024.
