Read moreLast Saturday was the 11th annual Whippet Run for Fun fundraiser at Varnum Elementary School. There were a total of 75 participants this year. Nineteen of the participants were a part of the 1k, and the other 56 were in the 5k.
Read moreVarnum High School teacher, Angela Scott, has been hard at work with her Forensics and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) classes. Both classes have been working on a variety of different projects this year. Scott’s Forensics class used stereo microscopes for the first time this year. They were examining strands of hair, cuticles and even fingerprints. The forensics class has also been working on crime scenes the past few weeks. Students first had to examine a crime scene that was left on the stage and conduct a report on it. Their next crime scene was located at the high school’s southern entrance.

With virtual proceedings in place, Judge Barnes was sworn in by the Seminole Nation’s Chief Justice, the Honorable Roger Wiley, using video teleconferencing. Also present was Chief Greg Chilcoat, Judge Barnes wife Annette, Rewalke General Council Representative Greg Votaw and Josh Carpitcher. Judge Barnes will complete the Seminole Nation’s District Court Judge team, which includes Chief District Judge the Hon. Phil Lujan, the Hon. Lisa Otipoby-Herbert and the Hon. Robert Gifford.
