Read moreWednesday, September 30, United States Attorney General William Barr met with leaders of the Cherokee Nation and federal prosecutors in Tahlequah to discuss future proceedings following the Supreme Court’s decision in McGirt v. Oklahoma. The landmark ruling, which was decided July 9, 2020, established the Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s authority over a large portion of land in eastern Oklahoma, and granted jurisdiction to either tribal or federal (not state) authorities regarding crimes involving Native Americans. It has also been assumed to have set a precedent for the rest of the Five Tribes (the Seminole, Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Choctaw Nations, respectively).

Seminole State College Campus Activities hosted its “Funny Mask” giveaway event on September 30. Dunlap Student Union.
