ECU grad student named Oklahoma’s Teacher of the Year

Oklahoma’s 2021 Teacher of the Year is still in school — at East Central University. Jessica Eschbach, who currently teaches in the Norman school system, received the prestigious honor from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. The award has been presented annually since 1955.

Convicted Felon Arrested on Firearm, Assault Charges

A man with a prior felony conviction out of Arizona was arrested last week in Seminole after police responded to reports of a man walking around with a gun and assaulting a woman with a tennis racket. John Paul Hendley II, 33, was arrested on Feb.

Stephanie Taylor has been named as a new board member of the Academy of Seminole (TAOS). “Stephanie has a passion for effective education. She was active in assisting Advance Rural Education (ARE) during the approval process to open the Academy of Seminole,” TAOS said in a press release.

Treasurer: Oklahoma Economy Better Than Many Other States

February Gross Receipts to the Treasury are down by less than one percent compared to collections from last year, but sales tax receipts are up by almost 8 percent, State Treasurer Randy McDaniel announced Wednesday. Collections from all sources in February total $950.
