Konawa Chamber Honors City Workers For Braving Bone-chilling Temperatures
The Konawa Chamber of Commerce recently honored three city employees for their efforts to keep the water system up and running in bitter weather conditions brought on by February’s winter storms.
Gifts of appreciation were presented to Mike Brimm, R.D. Coodey and Homer Proctor, all of whom braved arctic-type weather to serve the community.
“We often focus on the negatives when we are faced with challenges, so it is important to find positives where we can,” chamber officials said in a statement released last week, which continues below.
“During the recent historic winter storm, and continuing today, these three city employees spent countless hours in the frigid weather doing all they could to keep the water flowing to homes and businesses, but as we have seen, mother nature has reminded us that she is more powerful than we are.
While it has been a challenge for everyone, having to go without water for days, including these city employees, we are not the minority in Oklahoma, there are many cities that are facing the same challenges, and even worse off than we are.
It is important to remember that up until this point, Konawa has probably witnessed one of its longest stretches of uninterrupted water flow, outside of maintenance and improvements, in recent history.
We should all find ways to support each other, and the people that work so hard to keep our city running, especially when times get tough.
This is why the Konawa Chamber of Commerce felt it was important for us to show how grateful we are for their hard work and dedication to you, and the City of Konawa.
The Konawa Chaber of Commerce presented them with a little token of appreciation, and we would welcome you to join us in thanking them for their hard work.”
Chamber officials include Matt Dean, President; Bob Hatter, Vice President; Marion Hatter, Secretary and Judi Bynum, Treasurer.
