Seminole resident Jose Guadalupe Vazquez Marquez passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 in Shawnee.

Lupe, the son of Gabriel Vazquez Villalobos and Ramona Marquez de Vazquez, was born November 2, 1961, in San Juan de Los Lagos Mexico. On July 1, 1989, he married Jimi Roper. Lupe was a very dedicated worker, operating restaurants. Initially working for Polo’s Authentic Restaurant’s, then he opened his own restaurant Lupe’s in McAlester. He truly loved working at the restaurant, often putting in as many as 100 hours a week. He also enjoyed woodworking; but nothing was an important to him as his family, particularly his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and by a brother, Jaime.

Lupe is survived by his wife, Jimi Vazquez, of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Andre and Lindsey Vazquez of Shawnee, and Lupe Vazquez of Seminole; daughters and son-in-law, Alexandria and Mathias Grabau, of Shawnee, and Elizabeth Vazquez of Shawnee; grandchildren, Blair, Anastacia and Tobias; his mother, Ramona Marquez de Vazquez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gabriel and April Vazquez of Seminole, Saul and Jamie Vazquez of Seminole, Humberto and Karen Vazquez of Calera, Luis and Billie Vazquez of McAlester; sisters and brothers-in-law, Josefina and Luis DeAnda of Durant, Sandra and Oscar Sanchez of McAlester, Obdulia Vazquez of McAlester and Patricia Chavez of McAlester; and several nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

A memorial service will be Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Seminole First Baptist Church, with Nick Atyia officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
