Read moreThe westbound lane of I-40 was closed Tuesday evening at mile marker 213, one mile east of the Cromwell exit after a car hauler semi caught fire. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the road was closed at 6:29 p.m. Konawa Fire Chief Tim Coffey, current Chairman for the Seminole County Fire Chiefs, stated that the Cromwell fire department responded to the call and, once they were on scene to extinguish the fire and assist with traffic control, they requested a tanker truck from the Strother Fire Department and another tanker from the Okemah Fire Departments. The tanker truck from Okemah was cancelled before it reached the scene. The OHP reported the inside lane only was opened to traffic at 7:30 p.m. The OHP announced that I-40 westbound was clear of the semi and trailer and all westbound lanes were open at 11:40 p.m. after being closed for a total of 5 hours and 11 minutes. —Photo Courtesy OHP
