As reported in our weekend edition, Officer Billy Messner and his K-9 officer “Raven” (pictured above) helped stop an illegal drug trade in Seminole. Last Thursday, Messner spotted a vehicle that was being driven erratically, and a chase ensued that ended in the arrest of the driver and the discovery of drugs worth over $100,000. City Manager Saxon said, “We always love seeing big wins coming from new investments. Our City Council has dedicated the funds and manpower to fight the illegal drug battle. We couldn’t be prouder of K9 Raven and her handler, Officer Billy Messner. It takes a lot of training hours before you are capable of seizing over $100,000 in methamphetamines.” —Courtesy Photo

Seminole Nation of Oklahoma Higher Education Director, Clara Keawphalouk, met with some of the Seminole Nation High School Seniors who will be graduating in May 2022. Information was given out to the students, a sample of the Seminole Nation BIA scholarship application, which tribal students will have the opportunity to apply on July3, 2022.

Seminole’s Main Street was the place to be Saturday morning, as people of all ages ventured out on the gorgeous spring day for the Annual Made in Oklahoma Festival, sponsored by the Seminole Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the 147 vendors that participated, the car show held on the south end of Main Street, which featured over 100 cars, was a big attraction. Owners showed off their automobiles, that ranged from vintage to modern. Next year’s festival is slated for April 1, 2023. (Staff photos by Bill Anderson).
