Cluttered Corner Carl Albert May Become President By Milt Phillips THIS WEEK COLUMNIST Kevin Phillips of King Features Syndicate outlines a series of events which could make Oklahoma’s Congressman Carl Albert the President of the Unites States. “Cousin” Kevin says that IF Veep Spiro Agnew is indicted he probably will resign as vice president. Then, says “Cuz,” the Democratic Senate will pigeonhole President Nixon’s nominee to fill Spiro’s office. The Democrat-controlled House will then bring impeachment charges against President Nixon on Watergate charges and the U.S. Senate, Democrat controlled, will convict him and remove him from office. That’s when Carl Albert, Speaker of the House, will become President of the USA. “Cousin” Kevin then goes farther into his fantasy and recalls that Albert, who has a heart condition, might die on the afternoon of his inaugural because of all the excitement – and that would put Mississippi cotton planter Senator James O. Eastland,” the present pro tem of the senate, in the White House. Ole Cuzin Kevin was sure puffin’ on somethin’ stronger even than Marijuana when he thunk up all those series of events.
