Don Kimrey
Don Kimrey went to be with his heavenly Father on August 18, 2026 surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 21, 2026 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka, Oklahoma with Pastor Tommy Azlin officiating, assisting him will be Pastor Kurt Beauford. Interment to follow at Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
James Donald Kimrey was born on December 4, 1936 to Versa G. & James Clifford in Ada, OK. Don attended Sams School outside of Wewoka and also attended Wewoka High School. Don married Ruby Brewer on June 9, 1954 in Ada, and to this marriage six children were born.
Don was a hard working and accomplished man who spent his life building businesses, serving others and making memories with the people he loved.
In 1963, Don built his first car wash in Holdenville, followed by another in Wewoka in 1964. Over the years he owned and operated Kimrey Chemical, Kimco Oil & Gas, and Kimrey Trucking. His work ethic and determination were a reflection of the man he was.
Don’s faith was a very important part of his life. He attended Holdenville Assembly of God Church. His faith and love for others were evident in the way he lived his life. Some of Don’s greatest joys were found in the simple moments he spent with family and friends. He loved playing games, especially Moon, and many cherished memories were made around the table. There were softball games played at Dixie Lease, hunting and camping trips, and many football games attended together.
Most of all, Don will be remembered for the countless lives he touched. He was always willing to help others along life’s journey, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, hard work, faith and love.
On February 4, 2002 he married Donna Abercrombie in Ft. Smith Arkansas. They spent their years living in Wewoka. Don is preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children Ruby Kimrey; brothers Norman Kimrey and Lloyd Kent Kimrey; sisters Pat Wood and June Stricker; daughter Tammy Kimrey; step-daughter Bethanie Crawford, stepson Nathan Abercrombie and granddaughter Megan Mathews.
Don is survived by wife Donna Kimrey of the home; his children: Jamie and Steve Chambers of Seminole, Todd and Kim Kimrey of Jenks, Tim Kimrey of McCloud, Julie and Tom Mathews of Tecumseh, and Jan and Bryan Bryant of Arvada, CO: Grandchildren, Chris and Abby Thomas, Ginna and Russell Collier, Amber and Osese Otieno , Jill and Nolen Henry , Tyler Kimrey , Tara and Garrett Thomas, Kailee and Cody Sullivan, Jessica and James Nickerson, Garrett and Kylie Bryant, Karson and Rachel Mathews, Cole and Emily Bryant, Kimrey and Gunner Walters, Jack Kimrey, and Tyler Crawford; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Kay Pettis of Cromwell, OK. He also had four life long friends that he cherished, Kayle Smith, Glenn Cook, Larry Steater, and Jerry Green.
And Dad, we hope heaven had the dominoes ready. Go ahead and shoot the moon.
