Billy was taught at an early age the importance of responsibility and integrity. Embracing these values upon reaching adulthood, Billy met and fell in love with Naomi Jennings. To this union two daughters and two sons were born, but the marriage later ended in divorce. Billy served his six-year obligation and ended up putting 12 more years with the Oklahoma National Guard. He received the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge.
Billy began his career with Tinker Air-Force Base. He met and married Helen Weaver. God placed in their life James Griffis as their grandson. Billy and Helen were married for 51 years.
Billy started going to church with his wife, Helen, at St. Matthews Baptist Church. He later became a member and deacon at St. Stephen Baptist Church where he accepted his calling to preach and preached his first sermon.
After his calling to preach he left and started pastoring at varies churches and retired from being pastor at Parker Chapel.
Reverend Renfro loved his family, friends, and his church. During his ministering he mentored many young men. Special acknowledgements to Terry Bruner and Pastor Michael Robinson who were dear friends, and Kevin Hardimon, his adopted grandson.
