Loretta Swan

Loretta Mae Swan, age 80, passed away December 12, 2020 at her home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was born on December 2, 1940 in Prague, Oklahoma to parents Ralph Lee and Virgie Virginia (Shoemaker) Lemmings.

She graduated from Prairie Valley High School in 1959, attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma and graduated in 1967 from Shawnee Beauty College in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

She grew up in the Little Community in Seminole County.

She was in the Seminole County 4-H Club for 10 years.

She was baptized at Highway Baptist Church in 1954.

Loretta married Larry Lee Swan on April 18, 1974 in Gainesville, Texas.

Loretta worked as a telephone operator at Sears where she met Larry. She had also worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone and the Oklahoma County Courthouse.

Her greatest accomplishment was being a wife and homemaker. She started painting in oils in 1977.

Larry and Loretta had their first craft show in 1988 at Prairie Grove, Arkansas at the Civil War Battlefield. Larry would cut the wood and she did the painting. They did this show for 32 years as “Swan’s Country Crafts”.

Loretta is survived by her husband of 46 years; Larry Lee Swan, sisters; Linda Dodson and Judy Thacker and her husband Harris, her brother-in-law; Rex Bird and nieces; Regina Jewell and her husband Dustin and Roberta Moore and her husband Greg.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Rosetta Bird.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Little Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
