Patricia K. “Pat” Morphis, 77, of Wewoka, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 26, 2020, after a short but intense battle with cancer.

Pat was born on June 28, 1943 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Doyle and Eileen Rahorn. She was one of four siblings.

She married Jim Morphis on December 30, 1988 and had many loving, joy-filled years with him until his passing in 2013. Pat attended high school in Pryor, Oklahoma, and then attended the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

She spent the majority of her career in the Seminole County Courthouse. She served for many years as an administrative assistant in the District Attorney’s office, and was later appointed and then elected as Seminole County Court Clerk.

She retired as Court Clerk in 1996. After retirement, she engaged in various pursuits that interested her, including working for the United States Census Bureau for the last three national censuses. She was blessed to have enjoyed 24 years of retirement.

Pat was devoted to Jesus Christ and her family. She loved serving the Lord through many ministries with her fellow members of First Assembly of God of Wewoka. The Assembly of God congregants were very special to her.

She loved spending time with her sons and their families. Pat took great joy in being with her seven grandchildren and supporting them in their endeavors. She frequently traveled all across the state to attend her grandchildren’s school events, ball games, recitals and special church moments. She loved packing the house when hosting family gatherings around the holidays. They were joyous times.

Pat was a loving and hardworking mother. She raised three boys as a single parent, making sure that all of their needs were attended, meals were prepared, clothes were laundered, wounds were bandaged, and no great mischief was done by the boys. She did it with kindness, joy and perseverance. Her sons are eternally grateful that she was their mother.

Pat is survived by her sister Jackie Pickett and brother-in-law Gary Pickett, of Pryor, Oklahoma; her sister Penny Geasland brother-in-law Frank Geasland of Grove, Oklahoma; her son Gore Gaines, daughter-in-law Julie Gaines, and their children Casey and Colby of Tulsa; her son Tim Gaines and his children Audrey and Grey of Shawnee; her son Torrey Gaines, daughter-in-law Shannon Gaines, and their children Kathryn, Hannah, and Luke of Durant; many in-laws in Seminole County and California; and many lifelong friends in Wewoka.

Due its sudden nature, few in our community were aware of her last illness. Our family wishes to express our gratitude for everyone’s prayers, love and support.

Graveside Memorial service will be 2pm Friday December 4, 2020 at Little Cemetery north of Seminole officiated by Pastor Matt Stubblefield. All recommended COVID-19 precautions will be followed.

A celebration of Pats Life will follow Graveside service 5pm Sunday December 6, 2020 at the First Assembly of God Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Wewoka, OK.
