Mary Jane Greene Burkey, 83, of Seminole, Ok, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas

Memorial services will be held 11:00, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at First United Methodist Church of Seminole, OK with a reception to follow. Pastor Lamarla Cook of Seminole First United Church will be officiating. Private burial will follow at Minco City Cemetery.

Mary Jane was born in Kilgore, Texas to Shulah and Janie Greene on April 10, 1938.

She graduated in 1955 from Kilgore High School and in 1957 from Kilgore Junior College with an associate degree in Accounting. She was also a member of the Kilgore Junior College Rangerettes.

She married James Edward Burkey on September 5, 1958 in Kilgore, Texas at the Danville First United Methodist Church.

She worked in accounting at various companies and ended her work career at the New Age Project in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Mary Jane’s High School Senior Yearbook quote read, “I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it”, and this is the way she lived her life. She worked hard at everything she attempted with a smile on her face, a great laugh and always a sassy comment.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Burkey, her daughter, Cheryl Anne Burkey, her sister Frances Greene, and her brothers John, Keeton, Billy, and Jimmy Greene.

Mary Jane is survived by her children Patricia Burkey Centracco and James David Burkey; her sister Bobbye Jean Hearell; her four grandchildren: Caleb and Peyton Centracco and David and Hannah Burkey and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum of Seminole, Oklahoma or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
