Man Charged For Allegedly Throwing Pill Bottle at Deputy
A Georgia man is facing criminal charges relating to an incident in which he allegedly threw a bottle of bills that hit a Seminole County Deputy in the face.
According to documents filed in the District Court of Hughes County on September 21, a suspect with a Georgia address, Christopher Willard Riley, 28, has been charged with one felony count of assault and battery on a police officer, or in the alternative, one misdemeanor count of obstructing an officer and one misdemeanor count of public intoxication.
On September 16 at approximately 12:42 a.m. the Seminole County Sheriff’s office received a call reporting trespassing at a rural residence just north of I-40. An affidavit of arrest filed in the case states that when Seminole County Sheriff’s Deputy Kimberly Word arrived, she observed a vehicle in the middle of the roadway with the smell or odor commonly associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver’s breath and person. The driver’s eyes were watery and bloodshot, and he wasn’t able to stand or walk on his own.
When Deputy Word asked him for identification, he allegedly removed his hand from his pocket and threw a large pill bottle that was half full of pills at Deputy Word, striking her near her right eye.
Bond was set at $5,000 and Riley was ordered to report to Oklahoma Court Services for supervision upon release.
