Lester Morris Gunter, age 79, lifelong Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed away June 4, 2020. He was born April 16, 1941 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma to parents Virgil Gunter and Cynthia Anna (Harris) Gunter. He attended Seminole schools and graduated from Seminole High School in 1959. He attended Trinidad Junior College where he received his gunsmith degree. After that he opened his business, “Les’s Gun Shop”. He enjoyed working for many years and making new friends along the way because of it.

Lester joined the United States Army in 1966 and then transitioned to the Army National Guard of Oklahoma.

Lester enjoyed fishing and hunting and hunted in every Rocky Mountain state and also in Alaska. He was a member of the Seminole Bass Club, Ducks Unlimited and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

Lester is survived by his brother; Herb Gunter of Seminole, Oklahoma, his nieces; Sonia Scott of Seminole, Oklahoma and Carrie Nault and her husband Kyle of Ardmore, Oklahoma, great nieces and nephews; Colby Scott and fiance’ Kourtney Magill of Princeton, Texas, Katie Scott of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kyla Nault of Ardmore, Oklahoma and P.T. Nault of Pasadena, Texas, dear longtime friends; Ron Hill and Ken and Karen Green and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother; Herman Gunter and sister-in-law; Liz Gunter.

Memorial services for Lester will be a 2:00 p.m., Tuesday June 9, 2020 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Danny Napier of South Rock Baptist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lester’s memory be made to Northwood School, Attn: Camp Goddard, C/O Seminole Public Schools, P.O. Box 1031, Seminole, Oklahoma 74818.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
