Ramirez

DOB: March 16, 1958 DOD: February 22, 2024 With a heart as big as his ever-smiling face, Jose “Jesse” Ramirez passed from this home and into his next on February 22, 2024. Born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico on March 16, 1958, Jesse lived a loving life in support of those around him while spreading warmth wherever he went. His love for his Chevy vehicles, particularly the Silverado, Monte Carlo, Camaro, and Corvette, was nearly as famous as his love for his family. He was never one to get stressed out, and his calm demeanor was a soothing presence for all.

Jesse’s journey from Mexicali to the coastal regions of Oregon and Washington, then to Wichita and Wellington, Kansas, and finally Seminole, Oklahoma, was a testament to his adventurous spirit. Despite his travels, he never strayed far from his roots, visiting family in Mexico several times a year and his family in Kansas monthly. Jesse’s love for his work as a machinist in the aircraft industry was clear to anyone who knew him. His enthusiasm for the company’s outings, movie nights, and cornhole tournaments was infectious. In his free time, Jesse could often be found at the casino, trying his luck at the slot machines, or at a family cookout, surrounded by those he loved. A proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Jesse found joy in giving back to his community.

Jesse is survived by his daughter, Shanda McGarity of Sturgis, Michigan; son, Lance “Ryan” Ramirez and his wife Annie of Wellington, Kansas; his beloved mother, Maria Ramirez of Calexico, California; his grandchildren, Trey Beeler, Braela McGarity, E’lah McGarity, Keeli Ramirez, Taylen Ramirez, Cayson Ramirez, Tyler Vaughn, McKenna Vaughn and Maesey Vaughn; one great-grandchild, Athena, along with his siblings: Hector Ramirez and Ramona, Alejandro Ramirez and wife Rosa, Ramona Ramirez, Lupe Ramirez, Raquel Ramirez and husband Adolfo, Eneding Ramirez, Elsa Ramirez and husband Jorge and Elena Ramirez.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Ramirez; two grandchildren, Icesis and Ziyon McGarity; brother-in-law, Manuel F. Ramirez and a niece, Anacely Ramirez. Jesse’s absence will be felt deeply, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved.

Services will be held to honor Jesse’s life on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at St. Anthony St. Rose Catholic Church in Wellington, Kansas. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas.
