Jerry W. Scism passed away, August 24, 2021 in Wewoka, Ok.

He was born on the family farm southwest of Wewoka in the Ong Community to parents Rhude A. and Oza (Mallett) Scism, June 3, 1934.

He attended elementary school at Ong, high school at New Lima and graduated his senior year from Wewoka high school in May of 1953.

He married Peggy Colleen Coursey December 5, 1953.

Jerry was a Wewoka businessman for over 50 years, including thirty-five years owning Auto Parts and Supply.

Jerry served his country in the United States Army Reserves before joining the Oklahoma National Guard and retiring after twenty-two years of service as Sargent First Class.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Sherri Rutherford Franks and husband Roger of Garland, Tx. daughter, Janet Bell and husband Jim of Edmond, son, Dale Scism and wife Penny of Wewoka. Grandchildren, Kelli Cunningham and husband Tom, Hayley Chitwood and husband Scott, Garrett Elesner, Cortney Scism, Leah and Matt Wittner and Kevin Thompson, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and a very special friend, Jean Ligon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rhude and Oza Scism, his wife of 57 years, Peggy Colleen (Coursey) Scism, brother, Lee Scism and granddaughter, Jessica Rutherford Thompson.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 27, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Wewoka, with Dr. Joe Ligon officiating and interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Dale Scism, Jim Bell, Garrett Elsner, Tom Cunningham, Kevin Thompson and Brayden Nichols.
