Essie Barnhart

Essie Marie. (Smith) Barnhart, went to be with her Lord and Savior, January 23, 2020 at her home in Wewoka, OK.

She was born May 30, 1931 in Wewoka, OK to the late Jess Smith and Ruth Pearce Smith.

She was a graduate of Wewoka High School.

On November 11, 1954 she married Byrul Barnhart in Holdenville, OK and to this union four children were born. Essie was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She worked at Moore’s IGA as a clerk for thirty years.

Essie was a very active member of Bethel Pentecostal Church. She was a member of the women’s Auxiliary and played the mandolin and piano for seventy years. Her love was spending time with her family.

Preceding Essie in death are her parents, husband, daughter-in-law Marie Barnhart, brothers and sisters Jessie Hood, Naomi Smith, Edmond Smith, Jimmy Smith, and Nathaniel Smith.

Survivors include children: Mark Barnhart and wife Karen, David Barnhart, Joby Barnhart and all of Wewoka, OK; daughter Judy Roberts and husband Shawn of Ringling, OK: Twenty grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be David Barnhart, Mark Barnhart, Joby Barnhart, David Barnhart Jr., Dylon Barnhart, and Coty Barnhart.

Honorary pallbearers will be Grandson , Granddaughters, Grandsons-inlaw, and son-in-law.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 27, 2020 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Wewoka, OK, with Pastor’s Martin and Donna Gustin and Pastor Matt Wyatt officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka, OK.
