Vanaria

Basile Arthur Vanaria Jr., of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, died Thursday, April 13, 2023 at his home.

Basile, the son of Basile and Rose (Papa) Vanaria, was born July 25, 1949, in Waltham, Massachusetts. Upon his graduation from high school, Basile joined the US Air Force, he would serve four years active duty and three more years in the reserves. In 1988, Basile moved to Oklahoma. On December 17, 2001, Basile married Neva Williams, in Texarkana, Arkansas. He enjoyed model cars and watching Law and Order. Basile loved exploring new places; he and Neva frequently took day trips together, even if it meant simply getting snacks and going to Sportsman’s Lake to watch the waves, boaters, and ducks. He was a faithful member of the Seminole Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Vanaria and by his parents.

Basile is survived by his wife, Neva, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Edith Cathey of Bowlegs; daughters and sons-in-law, Taffine and Frank Patterson of Arizona, and Shawna and Alfredo Lopez Martinez of Bowlegs; six grandchildren, Ronnie Patterson, Cadence Pulver, Alexandria Cathey, Alexander Cathey, Isabella Martinez and Aurora Martinez; three brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Pat Vanaria of Massachusetts, Ron Vanaria and wife of Massachusetts, and Bart Vanaria and wife of Massachusetts; along with many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 29, at 2:00 o’clock, at Seminole Holiness Church. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
