Mrs. S. E. Evans thoughtfully bringing a memento from the Holy Land to a longtime friend…She and Mrs. Cliff Fisher recently visited the various Biblical points of interest and The Producer published an interesting account of their trip…The C.O. Blaggs and the Jess Giles vacationing in Arkansas…Frieda Givens being called to Coal Hill, Arkansas, by the illness and death of her sister’s husband, Albert Lemons…

Larry Eggum, manager of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce, will be the speaker for the Forum luncheon Tuesday, noon, at the Harvest House restaurant, Bob Jones, Chamber manager, announced Friday. The Shawneean will speak on the topic “Central Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce and its Relationship to Seminole.” Clarence Clark, former Chamber president, will introduce the speaker.

Junior and senior high students in the Seminole schools begin enrolling Monday for the new term which opens Wednesday, August 18, Superintendent Donald E. Smith reminded Saturday. Enrolling will be from 8 until 11:30 a.m. for each class’ day.

High temperature in Seminole Saturday was 86 degrees after a low Friday night of 66, the local station of the National Weather Service at the fire department reported. At 5 p.m. it was 84 degrees. Rainfall totaling .4 of an inch was recorded up to 7 a.m. Saturday.

City Patrolman Tom Belshe helping a reporter get a news story this morning… Bob Swearingen remarking that he was ready for school to start again… He will be a sophomore at Seminole Junior College this coming year… Supt. Eugene Warrenburg of Varnum schools is looking for a shop teacher… Members of the Seminole high school drill team selling soft drinks in the halls of Seminole high while enrollment is going on this week… They plan to have a car wash in Seminole Saturday to raise money for their group… The drill team will be performing at all Seminole high school football games this coming year…

Seminole Police Chief Kenneth Higdon announced today that city street department crews will be working tomorrow in the city painting city school crosswalks. Chief Higdon requested all city motorists in the city to be on the lookout for these crews and to obey any warning signs they have in their work area.

The crews will begin early in the morning and will be working most of the day, the chief said. He also said that drivers should be on the alert this week for students, who will be going to the high school to enroll.

Chief Higdon pointed out that even though the oneway streets around the Seminole Presbyterian Church have been made two-way streets there are still two streets which run by Roosevelt Central school which are one-way. These streets are Park and Highland. The police official said that drivers should obey these oneway marked streets.

City firemen were called to Ideal and State streets Monday morning to douse a trash pile fire which had gotten out of control. There was no property damage.

The nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Anders, Mr. Joe T. Robinson, who now lives at Huntsville, Alabama, was a member of the Boeing Aircraft company engineering team which designed the “moon buggy” used by Apollo 15 astronauts for traveling on the moon’s surface recently.

Mr. Robinson’s mother, Mrs. Zillie Robinson of Thayer, Missouri, is Mrs. Anders’ sister.

After graduation from Thayer high school, young Robinson attended college two years and has undergone extensive training during the years he has been with Boeing. He is now in his 30s and is not married.
