Brenda Scott claiming the honor of being the first 19-year-old Seminole voter to cast a ballot since teen registration opened this past month…She was one of the 101 voters balloting before noon in the election on forming the junior college district…Kelley Parks having riding mower troubles and finally doing the job with a “push-type” power mower… County Assessor Paul Matthews showing off a rather large cantaloupe which he purchased from a Wewoka area grower Monday… Junior College President Elmer Tanner saying plans for the August 26 dedication of the new Juco building are complete and will be announced Wednesday…
The temperature in Seminole was 83 degrees at noon today after a low of 68 Monday night, the National Weather Service’s local station at the fire department reported. High temperature Monday also was 83 degrees.
By unanimous vote the Seminole Board of Education at its regular meeting for August Monday night approved a recommended $200 increase in base salary made by Supt. Donald E. Smith for all teaching personnel in the Seminole schools. The increase was recommended by the superintendent to bring the base pay of Seminole teachers in line with those of schools of comparable size.
