Bob Jones’ weekly Chamber Comments failing to arrive from Texas by mail where he is attending a special chamber managers’ seminar… John Marshall commenting that things are a bit quieter around Seminole Junior College for a short time with the ending of the summer term Friday…But enrollments for the new fall term are coming in daily, comments Jim Colclazier, dean of students… Marie Laird of New Orleans and two of her children, Mike and Laura Anne, arrived Friday night for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Givens, Jr….The other two children, Angie and Marsha Laird, have been here visiting for the past two weeks… Marie Koger talking about her bird feeders which are made out of some home laundry supplies containers…
Tuesday is an election day in the Seminole School District, and it is significant in two ways, according to County Election Board Secretary Ruby Hurley.
One, the voters of the district will be balloting on the question of creating a separate district within the boundaries of the Seminole school district to operate Seminole Junior College. The second, Mrs. Hurley said, will be the first time for any 18-year-old or under 21 youths who are registered to vote as residents of the district in an election.
The high temperature in Seminole Saturday was 84 degrees after a low of 52 Friday night, the National Weather Bureau’s local station reported. At five p.m. Saturday it was 80 degrees.
