Seminole Sales Tax Revenue Down For Month, Year

The February release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw a decrease in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this month’s revenue was also higher compared to February last year.

The City of Seminole’s Use Tax return was lower compared to last month’s return. It was also lower than last year’s return. The latest release explains the February distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from December business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from December 16th to 31st and estimated sales from January 1st to the 15th.

The disbursement of $211,695,380 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $8,592,376 from the $203,103,004 distributed to them in February last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $56,382,839.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $37,221,145 sales tax disbursement and $11,503,931 in a use tax disbursement.

The CITY OF SEMINOLE recently approved an increase in sales and use tax from .04 to .0412 percent that began in October. This is the third month to include this tax increase. Be aware of this increase in the comparison to last year’s sales and use tax in this report. Also keep in mind that these are actually figures from December compared to November.

The city received a $587,515.68 February Sales Tax disbursement. This was $43,377.01 less than the $630,892.69 returned last month The return was $7,950.09 less the $595,465.77 reported last year.

The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s February Use Tax return of $93,392.13 was $25,833.62 less than last month’s $67,558.51. It was $3,995.91 less than last year’s $97,388.04 Use Tax return.

This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $327,786.51 sales tax disbursement for February. This was $7,695.13 less than the $335,481.64 returned last month. It was $11,145.94 less than the $$338,932.45 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $75,954.82 was $17,624.10 more than last month’s disbursement of $58,330.72. It was $10,882.74 more than the $65,072.08 returned last year.

The February sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $88,184.44 was $22,099.52 less than last month’s return of $110,283.96. This disbursement was $20,709.39 less than last year’s return of $108,893.83. Wewoka has a sales and use tax rate of .0525.

TheCityofWewoka’sUse Tax return was $29,407.42. This was $4,980.97 more than last month’s return of $24,426.45. It was $6,338.38 less than last year’s $35,745.80 return.

The CITY OF KONAWA received a $49,742.35 February Sales Tax disbursement. This was $4,460.12 more than the $45,282.23 returned last month, and $18,540.44 more than the $31,201.91 return last year.

Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax. The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for February was $23,683.25. This was $8,557.47 more than last month’s $15,125.78 disbursement. This was $7,926.49 more than the $15,756.76 returned last year.

The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $10,273.92 return for February. This was $347.18 more than last month’s $9,926.74 return. It was $624.19 more than last year’s $9,649.73 return.

(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $6,904.02 this month and $6,445.59 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $2,036.21 . This was $855.68 more than the $1,180.53 returned last month. It was $26.19 more than last year’s $2,010.02 return.

(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $5,662.80 this month and $5,032.86 last year).

The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $5,061.10 sales tax disbursement for February. This was $906.94 more than the $4,154.16 returned last month and $56.10 more than last year’s return of $5,005.00. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement.

The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,382.61 disbursement for February. This was $124.37 more than last month’s $2,506.98 disbursement. It was $1,203.59 more than last year’s $3,353.72 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax. The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $2,179.54 disbursement for February. This was $327.44 less than the $2,506.98 January disbursement and $108.29 less than the $2,287.83 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
