Seminole Sales Tax Revenue up For Month, Year
The April release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw an increase in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this month’s revenue was also higher compared to April last year.
The City of Seminole’s Use Tax return was also higher compared to last month’s return and last year’s return. The latest release explains the April distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from February business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from February 16th to 28th and estimated sales from March 1st to the 15th. The disbursement of $202,236,693 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $15,742,252 from the $186,494,441 distributed to them in April last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $36,613,010. In county returns, the counties shared in a $35,570,691 sales tax disbursement and $7,960,612 use tax disbursements.
The CITY OF SEMINOLE recently approved an increase in sales and use tax from .04 to .0412 percent that began in October. This is the fifth month to include this tax increase. Be aware of this increase in the comparison to last year’s sales and use tax in this report. Also keep in mind that these are actually figures from February compared to January.
The city received a $654,472.55 April Sales Tax disbursement. This was $35,465.77 more than the $619,006.78 returned last month The return was $78,516.05 more than the $575,956.50 reported last year.
The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s April Use Tax return of $91,572.69 was $18,227.29 more than last month’s $73,345.40. It was $16,942.21 more than last year’s $74,630.48 Use Tax return.
This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $321,809.54 sales tax disbursement for April. This was $5,333.38 more than the $316,476.16 returned last month. It was $23,081.51 more than the $298,728.03 returned last year.
The Seminole County Use Tax return of $57,097.79 was $16,454.17 more than last month’s disbursement of $40,643.62. It was $9,754.07 more than the $47,343.72 returned last year.
The April sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $101,216.83 was $6,849.42 more than last month’s return of $94,367.41. This disbursement was $5,216.82 less than last year’s return of $106,433.65. Wewoka has a sales and use tax rate of .0525.
The City of Wewoka’s Use Tax return was $21,691.42. This was $7,072.94 more than last month’s return of $14,618.48. It was $2,346.46 less than last year’s $24,037.88 return.
The CITY OF KONAWA received a $29,919.33 April Sales Tax disbursement. This was $30.26 more than the $29,889.07 returned last month, and $3,656.09 less than the $33,575.42 return last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.
The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for April was $12,764.94. This was $5,192.10 more than last month’s $7,572.84 disbursement. This was $2,219.96 more than the $110,544.98 returned last year.
The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $10,766.92 return for April. This was $822.96 more than last month’s $9,943.96 return. It was $747.46 more than last year’s $10,019.46 return.
(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $6,801.92 this month and $28,333.31 last year).
Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $995.67. This was $1,095.25 less than the $2,090.92 returned last month. It was $7,416.64 less than last year’s $8,412.31 return.
(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $3,443.84 this month and $3,843.01 last year).
The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,478.75 sales tax disbursement for April. This was $522.25 more than the $3,956.50 returned last month but $335.29 less than last year’s return of $4,814.04. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement.
The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $1,947.44 disbursement for April. This was $644.14 less than last month’s $2,591.58 disbursement. It was $346.98 less than last year’s $2,294.42 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax.
The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $1,907.85 disbursement for April. This was $739.29 less than the $2,647.14 March disbursement and $970.22 less than the $2,878.07 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
