Seminole Sales Tax up For Month, Year
The November release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw an increase in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this month’s revenue was also higher compared to November last year.
The City of Wewoka’s Use Tax return was lower compared to last month’s and last year’s return.
The latest release explains the November distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from September business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from September 16th to 30th and estimated sales from October 1st to the 15th. The disbursement of $207,851,500 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $17,158,965 from the $190,692,535 distributed to them in November last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $35,651,131.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $37,328,105 sales tax disbursement and $7,293,808 in a use tax disbursement. The CITY OF SEMINOLE recently approved an increase in sales and use tax from .04 to .0412 percent that began in October. However, this report actually represents mostly sales from September business, before the increase took effect, although part of the October sales was estimated. The city received a $617,673.78 November Sales Tax disbursement. This was $31,511.73 more than the $586,162.05 returned last month The return was $35,545.27 more than the $582,128.51 reported last year.
The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s November Use Tax return of $56,049.79 was $7,782.87 less than last month’s $63,832.66. It was $10,813.78 less than last year’s $66,863.57 Use Tax return.
This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $345,942.45 sales tax disbursement for November. This was $37,801.61 more than the $308,140.84 returned last month. It was $53,225.37 more than the $292,717.08 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $46,260.91 was $1,288.31 less than last month’s disbursement of $47,549.22. It was $6,233.78 more than the $40,027.13 returned last year.
The November sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $86,014.04 was $21,673.99 less than last month’s return of $107,688.03. This disbursement was $12,785.24 less than last year’s return of $98,799.28. Wewoka has a sales and use tax rate of .0525.
TheCityofWewoka’sUse Tax return was $19,302.74. This was $2,026.35 more than last month’s return of $17,276.39. It was $1,474.07 more than last year’s $17,828.67 return.
The CITY OF KONAWA received a $35,652.65 November Sales Tax disbursement. This was $306.20 more than the $35,346.45 returned last month, and $4,826.94 more than the $30,825.71 return last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.
The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for November was $5,879.58. This was 4,696.94 less than last month’s $10,576.52 disbursement. This was $415.94 less than the $6,295.52 returned last year.
The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $11,610.42 return for November. This was $2,191.72 more than last month’s $9,418.70 return. It was $740.39 less than last year’s $12,350.81return.
(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $4,439.08 this month and $7,155.92 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $943.41. This was $69.74 less than the $1,013.15 returned last month. It was $149.53 less than last year’s $1,092.94 return.
(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $2,095.61 this month and $2,987.14 last year).
The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,570.89 sales tax disbursement for November. This was $1,138.92 more than the $3,431.97 returned last month and $1,184.00 less than last year’s return of $5,754.89. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement.
The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,965.03 disbursement for November. This was $211.58 more than last month’s $2,753.45 disbursement. It was $475.03 less than last year’s $3,440.06 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax.
The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $2,874.59 disbursement for November. This was $293.42 less than the $3,168.01 October disbursement but $634.60 more than the $2,239.99 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
