Seminole Sales Tax up For Month, Down For Year
The May release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw an increase in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this revenue was lower compared to May last year.
The City of Seminole’s Use Tax was lower compared to last month’s and also lower than last year’s return. The latest release explains the May distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from March business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from March 16th to 31st and estimated sales from April 1st to the 15th.
The disbursement of $206,739,760 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $4,636,587 from the $202,103,173 distributed to them in May last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $40,487,120. In county returns, the counties shared in a $34,646,337 sales tax disbursement and $8,256,046 in a use tax disbursement.
The CITY OF SEMINOLE has a sales tax rate of .04 percent. The city received a $626,979.41 May Sales Tax disbursement. This was $51,022.91 more than the $575,956.50 returned last month. The return was $19,255.35 less than the $646,234.76 reported last year.
The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s May Use Tax return of $57,033.11 was $17,597.37 less than last month’s $74,630.48. It was $2,856.89 less than last year’s $59,890.00 Use Tax return.
This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $308,658.31 sales tax disbursement for May. This was $9,930.28 more than the $298,728.03 returned last month. It was $6,083.57 more than the $302,574.74 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $54,388.35 was $7,044.63 more than last month’s disbursement of $47,343.72. It was $1,374.3 less than the $55,762.65 returned last year.
The May sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $113,616.91 was $7,183.26 more than last month’s return of $106,433.65. This disbursement was $14,978.63 more than last year’s return of $98,638.28.
The City of Wewoka’s Use Tax return was $21,835.94. This was $2,201.94 less than the April return of $24,037.88. It was $1,353.86 more than last year’s $20,482.08 return.
The CITYOF KONAWA received a $31,022.98 May Sales Tax disbursement. This was $2,552.44 less than the $33,575.42 returned last month, and $6,898.47 less than the $37,921.45 return in May last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.
The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for May was $11,386.66. This was $841.68 more than last month’s $10,544.98 disbursement. This was $1,762.24 less less than the $13,148.90 returned last year.
The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $10,204.88 return for May. This was $185.42 more than last month’s $10,019.46 return. It was $748.20 less than last year’s $10,953.08 return.
(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $7,594.28 this month and $13,258.98 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $9,657.44. This was $1,245.13 more than the $8,412.31 April return. It was $8,465.21 more than last year’s $1,192.23 return.
(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $4,167.46 this month and $3,906.51 last year). The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,411.20 sales tax disbursement for May. This was $402.84 less than the $4,814.04 April return but $960.49 more than last year’s return of $3,450.71. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement. The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,728.01 disbursement for May. This was $433.59 more than last month’s $2,294.42 disbursement. It was $406.50 more less than last year’s $2,321.51 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax. The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $3,060.04 disbursement for May. This was $181.97 more than the $2,878.07 April disbursement and $525.56 more than the $2,534.48 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
