Seminole Sales Tax up For Month And Year

The January release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw an increase in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this month’s revenue was also higher compared to January last year.

The City of Seminole’s Use Tax return was lower compared to last month’s return. It was also lower than last year’s return. The latest release explains the January distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily reflects local tax receipts from November business activity.

Companies remitting more than $2,500 in monthly sales tax are required to file and pay electronically. The amounts reported for this distribution represent sales from November 16–30, along with estimated sales from December 1–15.

A total of $212,922,452 in sales tax collections was disbursed to cities and towns. This reflects an increase of $3,150,535 compared to the $209,771,917 distributed in January 2025. In addition, cities and towns received $44,778,983 in use tax disbursements.

Counties shared in $36,800,011 in sales tax distributions and $9,719,762 in use tax distributions.

The CITY OF SEMINOLE recently approved an increase in sales and use tax from .04 to .0412 percent that began in October. This is the second month to include this tax increase. Be aware of this increase in the comparison to last year’s sales and use tax in this report. Also keep in mind that these are actually figures from November compared to October.

The city received a $630,892.69 January Sales Tax disbursement. This was $13,218.82 more than the $617,673.78 returned last month The return was $20,484.54 more the $610,408.15 reported last year.

The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s January Use Tax return of $67,558.51 was $42,642.67 less than last month’s $110,201.18. It was $8,541.29 less than last year’s $76,099.80 Use Tax return.

This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $335,481.64 sales tax disbursement for January. This was $14,530.74 less than the $350,012.38 returned last month. It was $15,030.83 more than the $320,450.81 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $58,330.72 was $21,228.37 less than last month’s disbursement of $79,559.09. It was $5,606.27 more than the $52,724.45 returned last year. The January sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $110,283.96 was $54.28 more than last month’s return of $110,229.68. This disbursement was $6,553.62 more than last year’s return of $103,730.34. Wewoka has a sales and use tax rate of .0525.

TheCityofWewoka’sUse Tax return was $24,426.45. This was $6,000.16 less than last month’s return of $30,426.61. It was $1,201.99 less than last year’s $25,628.44 return.

The CITY OF KONAWA received a $45,282.23 January Sales Tax disbursement. This was $52.08 than the $45,334.31 returned last month, and $8,055.37 more than the $37,226.86 return last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for January was $15,125.78. This was $704.32 less than last month’s $15,830.10 disbursement. This was $4,494.78 more than the $10,631.00 returned last year.

The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $9,926.74 return for January. This was $695.28 more than last month’s $9,231.46 return. It was $359.02 less than last year’s $10,285.76 return.

(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $4,739.46 this month and $5,240.39 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $1,180.53. This was $390.23 less than the $1,570.76 returned last month. It was $669.95 less than last year’s $1,850.48 return.

(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $3,889.20 this month and $4,093.22 last year).

The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,154.16 sales tax disbursement for January. This was $393.7 more than the $3,760.46 returned last month but $829.15 less than last year’s return of $4,983.31. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement.

The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,506.98 disbursement for January. This was $365.88 more than last month’s $2,141.10 disbursement. It was $846.74 less than last year’s $3,353.72 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax.

The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $2,506.98 disbursement for January. This was $59.75 less than the $2,566.73 December disbursement and $846.74 less than the $3,353.72 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
