Seminole Arts Council Expands Into Larger Downtown Home

Posted in:

The Seminole Arts Council has moved into a larger home at 139 N. Main Street (the former Bin Store) to accommodate a growing slate of programs and community events. The nonprofit Seminole Art Council, which operates the Seminole Art Center, invites residents of all ages and skill levels to get involved, whether you’re trying your first class or sharing years of experience as a teaching artist. The Art Center’s regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 2–7 p.m.

Weekly programming now includes Monday workshops for all ages, “Color Explorers” kids’ art (ages 4–12) on Tuesdays, a Teen Art Lab on Thursdays, and “From Blank to Beautiful” for adults on Fridays. Upcoming classes will also cover watercolor techniques, simple sewing skills, and ceramic pumpkin pottery. Additional offerings rotate throughout the year—painting, pottery, still-life sketching, mixed media, and more. Most classes carry a modest fee to help cover supplies and operations.

Beyond classes, the Arts Council hosts a popular Open Mic Night on the second Saturday of each month, featuring music, comedy, poetry, and spoken word from across the region. Bingo Night will also be returning soon as a recurring fundraiser to support the Art Center.

To sustain this growth, the Arts Council is conducting a membership and donation drive. Memberships start at $35 per month, directly supporting operations, classes, public art, and community programming. Working artists can inquire about special membership rates, and limited studio/residency space is available for rent. The Art Center also offers venue rentals for meetings, parties, and creative gatherings.

Stay up-to-date by following “Seminole Art Center” on Facebook or visiting seminoleartscouncil.org for the full calendar, membership details, and volunteer opportunities.

Mission: The Seminole Arts Council fosters a vibrant, inclusive community where creativity thrives. Through engaging events and thoughtful placemaking initiatives, the organization brings people together to explore, appreciate, and contribute to the arts—creating lasting connections and enriching Seminole’s cultural fabric.

Get involved: The public is welcome at all programs and events, and volunteers are encouraged to help conceive, plan, and present projects that keep the arts accessible to everyone.
