OG&E Linemen Showcase Skills in International Event

Linemen from Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E), a company that provides electrical services to much of Seminole County, showcased their skills in a weekend event.

The top fifteen qualifying OG&E linemen competed on the global stage showcasing their skill and grit at the 2025 International Lineman’s Rodeo, held over the weekend at the Overland Park Convention Center & National Agriculture Center & Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs, Kansas.

Drake Hirst, an OG&E apprentice, placed second in the Apprentice Pole Climb-a challenging event requiring line workers to scale a pole while carrying eggs in a basket and in their mouth. Hirst along with other competitors trained for months to prepare for the events showcasing safety, skill, and speed.

The International Lineman’s Rodeo is the premier competition of its kind, drawing more than 300 teams and 450 apprentices from across the globe.

Events such as pole climbing and Hurtman rescue provide linemen with an opportunity to demonstrate the precision and safety practices essential to their work in the field.
