He was working, as he does almost every day, in his office in Heritage House, 201 N. W. 14th Street in Ok City. It was November 21 and we told Stanley we dropped by to “exchange birthday greetings.” Yep, that date was Ye Scribe’s birthday also. Stanley has passed the four score and added four. We’ve passed the three score and added fifteen. We hope we are as active, alert, and on the ball nine years hence when-and-if we make it that far down life’s road. Draper devoted fifty years to building his beloved Ok City and State of Oklahoma, looking always to the future. He has devoted the past fifteen or twenty years to creating an image of the heritage of Ok City and Oklahoma. His dynamic drive and tenacity contributed tremendously to building Oklahoma City and Oklahoma. Now that same dynamic, never-saydie spirit has developed Oklahoma Heritage Association into a great force for preserving the artifacts and material which show so clearly the colorful heritage of this great state. The Heritage House in Oklahoma City is only one of the many fine contributions Stanley Draper has made possible. His fine cooperative effort with Oklahoma Historical Society has brought new vigor and greater vision to that organization, established in 1893 by the Oklahoma Press Association. We thoroughly enjoyed the birthday visit with Draper, as we have always enjoyed every visit we have had with him over the years. When the “First Hundred Years of Oklahoma History” is written, Stanley Draper’s name will rank high among the builders in that history. And it will rank just as high among those who labored to preserve the history and heritage of our great state. -oOo Seminole Chieftains head basketball coach R. B. Lynam and local cage fans had the chance to view the 1973-74 edition of the basketball Chiefs Friday night as they scrimmaged both Harrah and Okemah.
