January 30, 1935 A Seminole county legislator, schooled as a roustabout in the boom days of the oilfield development, today had declared war to end crime. He was Rep. Marvin S. Wooten, who announced that he would push his nine bills drastically revising criminal laws to provide early trial and prevent subterfuges from defeating justice in criminal cases. “The murders and crimes in this state are notorious,” Wooten said. “That is why I am demanding action. This state, and the entire nation, for that matter, must become crime conscious.”
