Early Sunday morning, it was announced that incumbent Chief Greg P. Chilcoat had been defeated by Lewis J. Johnson as a result of the Seminole Nation’s July 10 election. The newly elected Chief Johnson expressed his thanks to his supporters for the win on Monday morning.
The Seminole Arts Council hosted their first “Art Walk and BBQ Cook-off” on Friday and Saturday, July 9 -10. This event included plenty of artwork on display as well as a BBQ contest and other vendors. The Council plans to host the Art Walk on the second Saturday of each month, weather permitting.

The Bureau of Land Management will hold a wild horse and burro adoption event in Kellyville, Okla., July 16-17, at the Creek County Fairgrounds. The two-day event, featuring 120 wild horses and burros, will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 16. Adoptions will be held from noon-6 p.m.
