Although the drop in temperatures over the past weekend was a welcome relief compared to the high heat and humidity of last week, the large amount of rainfall has become a huge setback, especially for those still recovering from the May 4 tornado. There was no major damage reported as a direct result of the intense rain, although many of the homes with damaged roofs from the recent tornado received additional water damage.

Although the rain had let up somewhat by early Wednesday afternoon, ponds of water were left behind on area roads and highways, causing motorists to travel at slower speeds than normal.
