Larry Minihan
Minihan Lawrence Anthony Minihan, 87, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Larry was born July 27, 1939 in Seminole to Edward and Lona Minihan. He attended Seminole Schools and graduated in 1957. After high school, Larry joined the National Guard and was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas. In 1961, he married Katherine York. They lived in Harrah for one year and then moved to Dallas, Texas where they raised their two daughters, Tami and Tiffany.
Larry began his career in Texas as a draftsman at Collins Radio in 1963. This eventually led to him becoming an Engineering Aide in the Microwave System Division. In 1976, Larry was part of a team that formed Allard Incorporated. He provided “as built” drawings for all of the Northern Natural Gas facilities in Illinois, Texas, Kansas and Iowa. Larry was the inspector on projects at different facilities and was responsible for all civil, electrical and mechanical installations of new additions. After 19 years of living in Texas, Larry and the family moved back to Oklahoma and he formed Minihan Oil and Gas in 1979. Larry enjoyed all aspects of being in the oil business and continued to work in the field in many different capacities for over 35 years. In 1993, Larry worked as an inspector for Alcatel Lucent while installing the MDR-8000 radio which implemented the Smart Grid System for Oklahoma Gas and Electric. Alcatel Lucent had locations throughout the world, and some of Larry’s special locations to work at were Area 51, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, St. Thomas, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and many other major cities and airports throughout the United States. Larry purchased Hearn Machine Tool in 2004. This pipe perforating company supplied pipe for the oil industry for Coal Bed Methane Gas Wells in eastern Oklahoma.
Larry’s love of Seminole was evident in how he gave back to the community. He was a quiet man with a servant’s heart and would do anything for anyone. He loved his faith and was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In 1987, Larry heard there was a need for families needing extra help. He contacted other churches and people in the community and the Interfaith Social Ministries Food Pantry was created and is still going strong today, 39 years later.
As a proud Alumnus from Seminole High School and the love of football in his heart, he was instrumental in collecting donations to build the weight room our players are still using today, putting in new lights for the football field, building new offices for the coaches and installing an underground sprinkler system for the practice field and game field. After an important conversation with Coach Snyder on ways to honor special athletes, Larry began the All School Hall of Fame and initiated and became the first president of the Alumni Association. Due to Larry’s dream, Seminole schools have been the recipient of over $800,000 in projects and scholarships.
