Chastain In loving memory of Kelly Lee Chastain, who graced this world with his presence on August 26, 1966, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and departed it on September 26, 2026. Kelly’s life was a vibrant tapestry of love, service, and dedication to family and friends. Raised by Raymond Lee Chastain and Helen (Terrell) Chastain, he was a beacon of warmth and friendliness, known for his outgoing nature and the remarkable ability to never meet a stranger.

Kelly graduated from Prague High School in 1984, setting the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and service. His commitment to his country was demonstrated through 21 years of active military service in the United States Army, and the United States Air Force, and civil support. Following his honorable military career, Kelly continued to contribute through his role as a Quality Assurance Specialist for the Department of the Army at TAFB. His dedication to his community was further exhibited by his 30-year membership with the Umpires Association of the OSAA.

Kelly’s life was richly interwoven with personal passions and cherished moments. He was an avid birdwatcher and had a deep love for sports, cheering enthusiastically for the Buffalo Bills, The Thunder, and the University of Oklahoma. Yet, his loyalty knew no bounds, as he once became a quiet fan of the Cowgirls to support his daughter Claire during her year on the Oklahoma State women’s basketball team. His love for nature was evident in his beautifully manicured yard, a testament to his appreciation for flowers and gardening. Music was another of Kelly’s great loves, and he found joy in attending concerts and sharing those experiences with loved ones. He loved to spend time with his family his kids and his grandkids and the Whippet Franklin. Kelly was the grillmaster and he was always proud to grill everyone up the very best steak.

In his personal life, Kelly was deeply sentimental, cherishing handwritten notes and letters, and holding onto each card he received. He had a remarkable memory for names, a testament to his genuine interest in others, and even during his hospital stays, he made an effort to remember those who cared for him, epitomizing his gratitude and kindness. His children remember him fondly as a teacher of big and small things in life. He was really gifted at giving instruction from driving to folding perfect towels he instilled things they will never forget.

Kelly is survived by his beloved mother, Helen Chastain, his devoted siblings: Damon Chastain and wife Vicki, Jason Chastain and wife Jocelin, and Kim Riggs and husband Kevin. He leaves behind his treasured children: Reagen Chastain and wife Scotlyn, Riley Chastain, Claire Patten and husband Preston, and his adored grandchildren Brooks and Huxley. Kelly’s lasting legacy of love and friendship also lives on in the heart of his close friends and former wife Shanda Chastain and his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Preceded in death by his father, Raymond, Kelly’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, the joy found in simple pleasures, and the importance of family and friendship.

Kelly Lee Chastain’s spirit will forever soar among the birds he so loved to watch, and his memory will continue to bloom in the yard he tended with such care.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Riley-Walker Funeral Service & Crematory on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 during a time of visitation from 5-7pm. A funeral ceremony for Kelly will be held at Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Garden Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Gifford, Dustin Chastain, Kevin Riggs, Bo Riggs, Paul Duren, Latif Tobler.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Lonnie Greenly, Aaron Fredrick, Kelly Rohling, Richie Sedlacek, Todd Hignite, Jim Ratten.
