Moore Funeral services for Derrick Anthony Moore, 31, will be held Tuesday, July 14th at 10:00 a.m., at the Wetumka High School auditorium. Derrick passed away unexpectedly on July 8th, at his home, in Wetumka, OK.

Derrick, also known to most as “D-Mo”, was born on May 22, 1995, in Ada, OK to Angela (Yahola) Sleet, and Marcus Moore.

Derrick attended Wetumka schools and graduated in 2013. While in high school, Derrick was a standout running back, helping lead his team to multiple winning seasons, with one of those earning a spot in the state championship game in 2010. He was also a state champion in powerlifting, breaking many state records.

After high school, Derrick went on to attend Northeastern State University, in Tahlequah, on a football scholarship. Later, graduating from East Central University, with a degree in kinesiology.

More recently, Derrick found his way into working at Iron Horse Security, as an armed guard. It was an unexpected career path, but one he loved and enjoyed. While with Iron Horse, he was given opportunities to travel around the state, for different security details.

Derrick loved his family. He was a good son, brother, grandson, and nephew.

He loved gaming, lifting weights, and dancing, though he was not the best dancer. Derrick also enjoyed spending time with his cousins.

Derrick is survived by his mother, Angela Sleet, bother Gayland “Drae” Moore, and sister, Aiyana Sleet, all of the home, father, Marcus Moore, of Seminole, OK, sister Kalli Moore, of Horntown, brother Ethan Davis of Seminole, OK, grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Winfred McCreary of San Antonio, Tx, and his papa Thomas Yahola and wife Phyllis of Wetumka, OK. Derrick is also survived by his aunts Chris Moore of Macon, GA, Cassie Moore, Birmingham, AL, Eve Moore, Seminole, OK. Aunts and uncles Thomasene and Jeff Osborn, Asi Yahola, Leah Underwood, Lenora Crump, Melinda Smith, Opothle Yahola, and Danielle Hicks all of Wetumka, OK. Derrick also leaves behind a large extended family and many friends.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Lee Moore, Jr., his uncle, Galand Moore, grandma “Pinky” (Bemo) Yahola, and cousin Cameron Osborn.

Pallbearers are Darrick Deer-Buxton, Alex Hicks, Khalil Moore, Chance Fish, Ubaldo Rojas, Saybion Battles, Ethan Davis, and Maurice Sleet. Honorary pallbearers: Asi Yahola, Opothle Yahola, Terrence Yahola, Lewis Yahola, Jeff Osborn, Jeremy Clanton, Emvnvcke “Lucky” Yahola, Josiah McPerryman and Nash Smith.

A wake service was held on Monday, July 13 at The First Assembly of God Church in Wetumka, OK.

Internment will be at The Yahola Liketv family cemetery, northwest of Wetumka.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Wetumka, Oklahoma and officiated by Rev. Darrel “Bo” Gibbs, assisted by Coach Vick.
