Lynn Whitley
Whitley Lyndon Keith Whitley, Sr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 while holding the hands of his loving children. Lynn was born on December 6, 1942 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Raymond P. Whitley and Ruth (Boland) Whitley. Raised in Verden, Lynn attended and graduated from Verden High School.
He met the love of his life, Mary F. (Barnes) Whitley in Chickasha at a dance and they married June 2, 1964. Lynn and Mary welcomed two children into the world, Michele (Whitley) Sneed and Lyn Whitley, Jr.
Lynn learned how to work hard while working with his father repairing and building windmills for farmers all over Oklahoma. That work ethic built a man who became very successful in business. The automobile business is what brought the family to Seminole in 1978 when they purchased the Chevrolet/ GMC/Cadilac/Pontiac/ Buick dealership naming it Bostick - Whitley Motors. Lynn worked for 50 years at dealerships in sales and general management in Duncan, Seminole, Edmond, Oklahoma City and Ada. At the age of 78, he was still working at Ada Ford six days a week where he cared for customers there for over 25 years.
Top priority was always fiercely loving his family, but Lynn also enjoyed playing golf, gardening and cooking on the grill/ smoker. If you got the chance to enjoy his ribs or smoked standing prime rib you were in for a treat. Lynn and Mary were big OU fans and spent many years cheering on the football and softball teams. He is a member of the Highway Baptist Church.
Proceeded in death by his wife Mary in June, 2025, parents Raymond P. Whitley and Ruth (Boland) Whitley, sister Marilyn Kohler Left to cherish his memory, Lynn is survived by daughter Michele and (Tommy) Sneed, son Lyn Whitley, grandson Kasen Whitley and nephew John Rader. Known to many friends as Big Lynn, he will always be remembered as Dad and PawPaw to those who loved him the most.
The family is forever grateful for the exceptional love and care Lynn received from the angels on Earth nurses at Prague Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at Swearingen Funeral Home on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 10:00 am with Carl Whitfield officiating.
