Seminole resident Freddie Lee Crenshaw, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at the age of 79 in his home in Seminole.

Fred, the son of Alba and Beaulth Crenshaw, was bornAugust 31, 1943, in Cushing. He graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 1961 and attended Oklahoma State University School of Technical Training in Okmulgee.

In 1963, Fred moved to Seminole to begin a long career as a diesel mechanic. Fred had a few adventures around the world but always came back to his home in Seminole. He had a colorful work history. For example, he spent his weekends one summer pushing down trees to prepare for Lake Eufaula. Another summer, Fred, his brother Mike and his son Kevin hauled hay in the Cushing area. They were known for many antics that summer. He bounced around the oil fields and spent 43 years as a proud diesel mechanic. With his years of experience, Fred enjoyed mentoring other young mechanics. Fred always had a story to tell, such as how he used to care for Pistol Pete’s horse, loaned Conway Twitty $20, spent a winter in South Dakota living under 12 feet of snow working atop oil rigs, working on engines in the belly of ships in the Gulf of Mexico. During his Seminole years when not underneath a truck, you could find him on his property working in his garden, building ponds, and tending to his animals.

Fred married the love of his life Mary Lee Curry on June 23, 1990, in Seminole, OK. This began 30 years of love, laughter and adventure. They went everywhere together.

Fred gave back to the community in many different ways including serving on different local and county committees. One he was most proud of was being a Seminole County Law Enforcement Center Building Authority Member that was charged with oversight of the new county jail. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist church of Seminole.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife Mary and his siblings Jim, Derril, Junior, Janice, and Alma. He is survived by his brother Mike Crenshaw and Jane of Agra; sons Kevin Crenshaw and Lorie of Angleton TX and RB Bruce of Austin TX; Two grandchildren Brian Crenshaw and Lori of TX, and Victoria Crenshaw Mathes and Michael of Angleton, TX; Sister-inlaws Norma June Nease of Oklahoma City and Toni Lynn Lee and Gary of Oklahoma City; three nieces, Amy Starcher of Oklahoma City, Stephanie Jackson of Lacey, WA, and Stacy Ezell of Edmond; and three great grandchildren, Carter Crenshaw, Crosby Crenshaw, and Chloe Mathes; a well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be Friday, February 3rd, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at the First United Methodist Church, in Seminole, with Pastor Lamarla Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Fred and Mary are now together again!
