Steven Island

Island Seminole resident Steven Ray Island, 65, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Seminole, Oklahoma. Steve was born on February 24, 1961, in Seminole to Woodrow and Geraldine (Ransom) Island. He attended Seminole High School, where he played baseball, ran track, and excelled as a football player. He graduated with the Class of 1980.

Steve is survived by his three sons, Jarrod Reese of Colorado, and Steven Island Jr. and Jeremy Island, both of Stillwater; one daughter of Stillwater; three grandchildren; one niece; seven nephews; and a host of greatnieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends. Steve always had a special way of making people laugh and brought joy to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Geraldine Island; his brother, Woody Island Jr.; his uncle, Willie B. Carter; his sister, Shirley Williams Island; his sister and brother-in-law, Verna and Cleo Hearn; his nephew, Anthony Williams; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Steve was a kind and gentle man who treasured spending time with his family, especially his cousins. He loved the country life and enjoyed fishing, camping, attending rodeos, and being surrounded by the people he loved most. His warm smile, sense of humor, and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Seminole. Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
