Wewoka Tigers Stay Undefeated at Home Thursday Night

The Wewoka Tigers hosted the Gore Pirates Thursday night for their third home game of the season and remain undefeated at home.

The Wewoka Tigers are 5-2 on season thus far and are showing no signs of slowing down.

The Tigers took control at the top of the first quarter when Nadim Bruner caught a 24-yard pass into Pirate territory to set up a touchdown run by quarterback Ladarius Woods. Running back Landon Tiger converted the twopoint conversion.

The Gore Pirates struggled on offense in the first as the Tigers held them scoreless.

In the second quarter, the Pirates went three and out and punted the ball to Wewoka. Set to receive the ball for Wewoka was Bill Stephens who caught the ball and ran the ball back in for the touchdown. The two-point conversion failed.

The Pirates could not cross the goal line in the quarter but managed to kick two field goals to put the score 14-6 Wewoka at the half.

At the top of the third quarter, the Pirates closed the gap with a long rushing touchdown run to put the Pirates within two points of the Tigers (12-14). The Tigers marched the ball down field on their next possession and RB Tiger exploded from the Pirates 32-yard line in for the touchdown. The two-point conversion failed.

Wewoka was up by 8 points, but the Pirates fired right back with another touchdown to keep the game close.

Wewoka continued to put a stop to Gore’s momentum each time. The Tiger’s Bill Stephens was interfered with a pass interference that put the Tigers down inside the 5-yard line. On the very next play, Stephens ran the ball in for the touchdown. The two-point conversion failed again.

The Pirates didn’t go away and kept battling. Before the quarter was up, the Pirates scored another touchdown to keep the game within reach.

Wewoka had a twopoint lead heading into the fourth and final quarter.

The Tigers had a hard time stopping the Pirates quarterback in the second half, but the defense of Wewoka applied more pressure in the final quarter and held Gore scoreless in the frame.

The Tigers quarterback Ladarius Woods gave the Pirates defense a taste of their own medicine as Woods kept the ball and ran it 32-yards in for the touchdown. Running back Tiger scored the two-point conversion to seal the win for Wewoka.

The Pirates were shutdown the rest of the game as the Wewoka Tigers stay undefeated at home with a final score of 34-24 over Gore.

Next up for the Wewoka Tigers is an away game at Talihina on the 24th of October.

The next home game is on the 31st of October against Mounds. This game will be Wewoka’s Homecoming.

The game is set to start at 7 p.m.

Wewoka’s game against Regent Prep on the 7th of November will be the Tigers Senior Night.
