Thunder Draft Brooks Barnhizer in Round 2 of NBA Draft

NBA DRAFT - The 2025 NBA Draft is a wrap, and while Day 2 wasn’t headlined by a Cooper Flagg-level star or a shocker like Yang Hansen at No. 16, there was movement. And a lot of it.

While some teams took a chance on international players, plenty of names familiar to those who followed college basketball during the regular season and NCAA tournament got the opportunity to continue their careers in the NBA.

The Oklahoma City Thunder did not trade their 44th pick selection and decided to use it.

The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Northwestern’s Brooks Barnhizer with the No. 44 pick of the 2025 NBA draft.

Barnhizer spent four college seasons at Northwestern from 2021-25. He averaged 17.1 points on 41.4% shooting, 8.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 17 games last season. He shot 26.6% from 3 on 3.8 attempts. He was also a 76.4% free-throw shooter. He tallied 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks. The Indiana native became the first Big Ten player since Michael Redd to reach 1,000-plus career points, 500-plus rebounds and 200-plus assists within his first 96 games.

The 23-year-old is a 6-foot-6, 230-pound guard. He suffered a season-ending foot injury in January. There’s a decent chance he gets signed to a two-way deal.

Barnhizer joins Georgetown’s Thomas Sorber for the Thunder’s 2025 NBA draft haul. The NBA champion still has a chance to add more talent but would need to acquire another second-round draft pick to do so. Here are the 59 selections from Thursday’s 2025 NBA Draft second round: 31.
