Seminole Chieftains Host Games on Their Senior Nights
The Seminole Chieftains and Lady Chieftains hosted games Thursday on their senior nights.
The Lady Chieftains honored Elsie McGirt, Audriona Wassana and Ava Yarbrough before their softball game against the Konawa Lady Tigers.
The Chieftains honored Mavrick Northrip and Alec Welch before their game against the Dickson Comets.
The Lady Tigers went to bat first in the game between Seminole and Konawa. Both teams went scoreless in the first inning.
At the top of the second, the Lady Tigers got on the board with Bridgett Arms scoring on a ground ball and Sophina Robinson, Brailee Miller and Carleigh Roberts scored on a ground ball.
Seminole could not find their rhythm in the game and went three and out.
The Lady Tigers added to their lead in the third with Bliss Henson and Jayden Coats scoring on a line drive, Kassidi Lowden scored on a fly ball, Robinson scored on a line drive and Miller scored on a ground ball.
The Lady Chieftains continued to struggle on offense and went scoreless in the third. Konawa put the game away at the top of the fourth with three more runs by Autum O’Neill, Henson and Coats.
Seminole could not rally back in the inning and went three and out.
The Konawa Lady Tigers posted a shutout with a final score of 12-0.
Pitching for Konawa was Sophina Robinson who pitched 3.2 innings, allowing zero runs, two walks and striking out three.
Pithing for Seminole was Audriona Wassana. No stats were given on pitching.
The Seminole game was the last game for the Konawa Lady Tigers regular season.
Next up for the Seminole Lady Chieftains is an way game at Earlsboro on the 21st.
For the Seminole Chieftains baseball game, the Dickson Comets went to bat first and lit up the scoreboard with four runs scored at the top of the inning. The Chieftains answered back with Carter Childs scoring on a steal of home, Crewe Lindley scored on a line drive and Maverick Northrip scored on a ground ball.
Neither team scored in the second inning. The Comets extended their lead with a single run in the third, but the Chieftains tied things up at the bottom of the inning with Northrip scoring on a passed ball and Ethan Noey scored on a line drive.
The defensive battle continued in the fourth inning with no runs scored.
Dickson regained the lead with single run at the top of the fifth but again, the Chieftains tied the game with a single run by Childs.
The defense of the Chieftains held the Comets scoreless in the sixth inning and went to work on offense. Grady Tiger scored on a line drive, Childs scored on a line drive, Ostin Bighead and Lindley and Knowles scored on a line drive.
The Comets were down by five runs heading into the seventh inning but again went three and out. The game was called.
The Seminole Chieftains won 11-6 on senior night.
Pitching for Seminole was Grady Tiger who pitched four innings, allowing six runs, four walks and striking out three.
Ostin Bighead pitched three innings, allowing zero runs, one walk and striking out seven.
Next up for the Chieftains is an away game on the 20th against Cushing. The Chieftains turn right around and play Cushing at home the next on the 21st.
The game is set to start at 5 p.m.
