Seminole Chieftain Basketball Host Two Games Before the Holidays
The Seminole Chieftains hosted the Prague Red Devils on Thursday night and the Byng Pirates on Friday night in their three home games series of the week before the Holidays.
Thursday night was a rubber band night with the Chieftains winning and the Lady Chieftains falling.
The Lady Chieftains put up a good fight in the first quarter but a couple of three-point shots from the Lady Red Devils allowed them to take the lead in the first.
Seminole struggled on offense in the second, but their defense held the Lady Red Devils to 12 points scored.
The Lady Chieftains were down by 13 points, heading into the third quarter. Seminole fired back in the quarter with Jaxie Satawake scoring 4 and (J) Andrews scoring 3 to score 12 points in the quarter but the Prague offensive train kept rolling and extended their lead.
Seminole could not find their rhythm and fell to the visiting Lady Red Devils 35-60.
Jaxie Satawake led the Lady Chieftains with 10 points and was 2 of 5 from the free throw line.
The Chieftain boys played next and faced the Prague Red Devils Thursday.
The Chieftains jumped out to an early lead with Donovan Garfield scoring 5 points to help Seminole go on a 11-9 run in the first.
The Chieftains decided to take control of the game in the second with Kenneth Johnson knocking down a 3-point shot, Jay Ladd scoring 7 points, Christian Brager scoring 9 points and Garfield scoring 6 to extend their lead by 22 points before the break.
Seminole continued where they left off with their momentum in the third. The Chieftains went on a 15-9 run in the frame and didn’t look back.
The Red Devils made an attempt to make a comeback in the final frame, but Seminole kept their foot on the gas and rolled in for the victory. Seminole Chieftains beat the visiting Prague Red Devils 67-42.
Leading for Seminole was Donovan Garfield with 14 points and was 4 of 8 from the free throw line.
Jay Ladd and Christian Brager each scored 13 points on the evening.
Friday evening was the matchup with the Byng Pirates. Not all went well for the Chieftains Friday.
The Lady Chieftains kept the first quarter close but trailed throughout the rest of the game and fell 28-74 to the Byng Lady Pirates.
The Seminole Chieftains fought throughout the game but fell short and could not catch the Pirates. The Chieftains fell 41-72.
Next up for the Chieftains after the Holiday is an away game on the 6th of January at Tecumseh.
The Chieftains will also be participating in the Konawa Basketball Invitational on the 8th through the 10th.
The next home game will be on the 13th against Ada.
The games will start at 6 p.m. with the High School Lady Chieftains, followed by the Chieftain boys.
