New Lima Falcons Start Their Baseball Season at Home
The New Lima Falcons started off their 2025 baseball season at home facing the Butner Eagles and the Oilton Panthers Monday afternoon.
The Falcons had a rubber band day with a win over Butner 10-0 and lost to the Panters in a close game.
The Panthers went to bat first in the game and jumped out to an early lead with three runs scored. The Falcons also lit up the scoreboard with Alex Leaver scoring on an error in the first.
Neither team scored in the next three innings as both defenses stepped up their game.
The Panters added to their score at the top of the fifth with two runs scored to put them up by 4 runs.
The Falcons answered right back at the bottom of the inning with Justin Spencer scoring on a line drive, Bear Colbert scored on a line drive, Leaver and Tanner Johnson scored on a line drive by Logan Heard to tie the game up 5-5.
The Panthers came up to bat in the top of the sixth and regained the lead with three runs scored. The New Lima Falcons went three and out in the sixth and seventh innings.
The Falcons fell short of a victory as the Oilton Panthers won 8-5.
Pitching for New Lima was Logan Heard who pitched four innings, allowing three runs, striking out eleven and walking one.
Bear Colbert pitched 2 ½ innings, allowing two runs and striking out three.
Next up for the Falcons is the Dover Festival on the 214th and 15th.
The next home game for the Falcons is on the 18th against Earlsboro starting at 3:30 with the junior high followed by the high school at 6 p.m.
