The Seminole Rotary Club is continuing a decades-long tradition of offering a free Christmas Day dinner to the community.

The 45th Annual Earl Knowles Christmas Community Meal is slated for Dec. 25 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Seminole Middle School Cafeteria, located at 501 Timmons between the Betty L. Smith Early Childhood Center and the old high school.

Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., or until they run out of food. Meals will also be available for delivery to local shut-ins. Arrangements can be made in advance by calling (405) 382-3640. Be sure to provide your name, address, phone number and the number of meals needed.

The Seminole Rotary Club has offered a Christmas dinner to the community since 1979. It carries the name of former Rotarian Earl Knowles, a Seminole businessman and enthusiastic booster of the event, who was killed in an automobile accident following the first dinner.

This Christmas tradition is just one of many projects the local Rotary Club participates in to serve the community. They are part of the much larger Rotary Foundation, whose mission is to help members “advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.”
