The Seminole County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) announced during their Jan. 13 regular meeting that they are now accepting applications for the position of County Assessor. The position is becoming open as longtime County Assessor Denise Bailey has submitted her letter of retirement to the commissioners.

A factsheet provided by the commissioners offers an overview of the position, which is to appraise and assess all the real and personal property within the county for the purpose of Ad Valorem taxation. The Oklahoma Tax Commission and State Board of Equalization provide oversight of the Assessor.

Education and experience requirements include: a high school diploma or GED equivalent Prior or current assessor office experience is preferred but not required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is also preferred but not required.

Applicants are required to have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

Special training or experience includes knowledge of Oklahoma Statutes governing Ad Valorem taxes, specifically Title 68.
