TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The East Central University football team made history on Saturday by competing in the inaugural First Americans Bowl against Northeastern State University at Doc Wadley Stadium.

The Konawa Tigers had their first home game of the season Tuesday night as the Tigers hosted the Elmore City Badgers. The Lady Tigers started the evening off on the wrong foot as the Lady Badgers hit four three-point shots in the first frame to help Elmore City go on a 22-2 run.

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED - Years ago, schools basically cued in line to plead for a spot in a post-season bowl game. Of course, that was an era before every breakfast cereal, motor oil, or obscure mortgage company was sponsoring its own personal bowl game.

SOONER WIRE - It’s been a fantastic season for Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners, who went 10-2, including a 6-2 mark in SEC play, to earn their first College Football Playoff appearance since 2019. 10 Oklahoma Sooners earned All-SEC honors on Tuesday as voted on by the league’s coaches.

NORMAN — The College Football Playoff is coming to Norman. Oklahoma was slotted as the CFP’s No. 8 seed Sunday morning and will host No. 9 seed Alabama in a firstround contest Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. CT at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised by ABC and ESPN.

STILLWATER NEWS PRESS - Eric Morris walked up to the stage and sounded like a seasoned Cowboy, hitting every note Oklahoma State fans wanted to hear. Morris, OSU’s new head football coach, brought up Bedlam unprovoked.

Maud, Oklahoma was the location for the Third Annual Maud High School Basketball Tournament this past weekend. The tournament had eight teams competing in the tournament, including Maud. Alex, Cresent, Depew, Fox, Life Christian, Maysville and Wetumka were the other schools competing.

This past week has been a busy week for 10 Oklahoma County high schools as they competed in the Annual Little River Conference Basketball Tournament. Five of those county schools represent Seminole County.

THUNDER WIRE - A winning machine on the floor, the only suspenseful parts of the SGA-less OKC’s visit to Utah happened during stoppages. The first two involved pyrotechnics going off at the top of the shot clock. The third happened less than a minute into the second half.

STILLWATER - The (8-0) OSU Cowboys will travel to the Grand Canyon State to take on the (5-3) Grand Canyon Lopes Saturday night.
