DEARABBY: My wife and I have been together for many years and have raised wonderful children. We have close friends, a beautiful home and, thankfully, our health. She’s my best friend, and the light and love of my life. We are, and have always been, happy together.

We humans have personality traits, that is readily apparent. And because we all have our own individual and highly weird traits, each of us also have singularly different desires. Desires for things in our life that are driven by our God-given quirks.

Pascal’s Wager is an argument in philosophy that was developed by the 17th-century Philosopher Blaise Pascal. The premise of the argument hinges on the difficulty of knowing whether God exists. Pascal argues, “yet we must ‘wager’ one way or the other.

What can soothe your nerves when you keep watching the news? What can help us to prepare ourselves for these times that are certainly not getting better? I may have a solution for you. Have you seen the movie The Great Awakening? That should wake you up.

DEAR ABBY: I am a 59-year-old divorced woman living with my 54-year-old boyfriend. We have lived together for seven months. He purchased the home we live in. Since we have lived here, I have made all the house payments. I also pay for the internet, utilities and all the groceries.

DEAR ABBY: My husband and I have been married for 59 years. As he has gotten older, he has less to do to keep himself busy, and he no longer drives due to Alzheimer’s. He is now doing things inside the house without asking my opinion, including moving things around.

DEAR ABBY: For the last four years, I have been hosting my son “Dennis,” his 6-year-old son and his brother’s 8-year-old daughter every other weekend. Dennis bought a puppy, “Champ,” to go with his house and brings him on these visits. Champ is nice enough but extremely active.

You want your way. And that is normal. But getting others to want to do what you are asking? Sometimes that's just not very easy. Forcing them usually doesn't make you a winner. In their eyes or in your own. A normal person will usually admit they don't enjoy having to use bad tactics to win.
